Hi buddies,

I have 2 PCs running Win2k3 and they are no relationship each other.

1. PC1:
- Hostname: pc01
- IP: 192.168.100.1/24
- Have a local user with the "shutdown" permission: user1

2. PC2:
- Hostname: pc02
- IP: 192.168.100.2/24

In the PC02, I want to type a command to shut the PC01 down. How can I do it ?
But I don't want to create the same username & password of "user1" like PC01 and logging on this user to shut the PC01 down.

I try to find the option to include "user" authentication in the "shutdown" command but not succeed.

I've use psshutdown from systerinals and it works well. You can also make a list of computer name in a text file and run it with this tool.

The process is pretty simple. Here in this case all you need to do is run the following command

in command prompt or cmd.exe on 192.168.100.1

shutdown -m \\192.168.100.2 -s -t 00

you have to run this comand from the other pc. Hope this helps i work with Microsoft and i have to do this regularly on remote servers.
